Hope you’ve all had a great summer break with families and friends.As the warm summer days continue, it’s a great time to dine alfresco and share simple, seasonal food at its best.   With that in mind, give the fresh tomato and white anchovy salad a try or perhaps the sticky and sweet Grape bread with it’s delectable oozing berry juices.   The Chocolate and Cherry semifreddo is a perfect stress free dessert for entertaining on those balmy summer nights.The team at IL Baronello will soon be abuzz with excitment as we gear up for another years production of Vino Cotto.  Just hoping for the hot weather to continue so that high levels of sweetness are present in the berries.We thank you for your support of Vino Cotto and look forward to sharing more great inspirational ideas with you during 2013.  All feedback and recipe ideas are welcomed.

Schiacciata con l’ uva al VinCotto – Sweet Grape Bread  Serves 12

Schiatta with Grapes and VinCotto
A surprisingly delicious, rich and juicy sweet bread studded with seasonal purple/black seedless grapes.  This sweet bread can be served along side a cheese board and red wine or on it’s own.
The words “schiacciata con l’uva” means to flatten with grapes and it was traditionally made in Southern Italy to celebrate wine grape harvest. Read more
